Horseback Riding
The horse tour company is proudly owned and operated by a local Costa Rican family. The tour includes transportation and begins at either 8:30 am or 1:30 pm. You begin with safety instructions and a basic riding lesson and then you’re off on a beautiful ride up a trail up to a 65 meter/ 215 feet high waterfall. After enjoying the stunning view from a lookout platform you hike down to the base of the waterfall where you can swim in the awe inspiring natural pool at the base of the waterfall.
After and inspiring and refreshing dip it’s time to hike back out of the gorge and enjoy a leisurely ride back down the mountain. On the way back you will go through a private 400 hectare farm where you can see toucans, oropendolas, (large and strikingly pretty weaver birds with an incredible range of songs,) plus a variety of other flora and fauna.
The tour lasts about 3 hours. Tips are not required but are always appreciated by the guides.
Bring shoes or hiking boots, bathing suits, towels, hats, sunscreen, bug repellent, water and perhaps a snack. Long shorts or pants recommended for the riding portion of the tour.
